| POSTED @ 2006/11/06 22:06 | A little bit tired these few days.
- A reaaaaally great animator and character rigger. http://www.characteranimator.com
- Thinking out some ways to streamline the workflow involved Massive. It's time of python again.
- Linux is far more flexible then windows. I think I should boot into linux more than to windows in my notebook ~ |
| POSTED @ 2006/10/24 09:34 | Cooler this morning. And not shiny also.
- Tuning mocap motions in Massive. More difficult than expected because of the stupid segmentation fault.
- Studying how to set motion for a already-made rig in character studio of Max in Maya. |
| POSTED @ 2006/10/20 09:53 | Doing less then expected in the holiday...
- Start learning Massive again.
- Keeping learning mel script stuff.
- Playing with max9. Not many different found yet.
- Great work. http://www.freedworkshop.com/ |
| POSTED @ 2006/10/13 10:45 | Great Post, by 弓箭dxa. (Simplified Chinese)
1.把MAYA当成一门新的课程学习(和MAX没啥关系!真的。);
2.初学者看《MAYA风暴》,不要看《MAYA完全手册》;
3.看《X:AWMaya4.0docsen_UShtmlMasterIndex.html》,不要因为他们很难而我们自己是初学者所以就不看;
4.不要被MEL、IPR、node、RMB、LMB等词汇所迷惑;
5.不要放过任何一个看上去很简单的小问题--他们往往并不那么简单,或者可以引伸出很多知识点;
6.会用 MAYA建模,并不说明你会MAYA;
7.学Cloth并不难,Animation、Dynamics、Fur 、Live也不过如此--难的是长期坚持实践和不遗余力的博览群书;
8.如果不是天才的话,想学MAYA就不要想玩游戏--你以为你做到了,其实你的MAYA水平并没有和你通关的能力一起变高,时刻记住,学MAYA是为了编游戏的;
9.看再多 MAYA的书,是学不了MAYA脚本的;
10.浮躁的人容易说:MAYA不行了,应该学MAX;--是你自己不行了吧!?
11.浮躁的人容易问:我到底该学什么;--别问,学就对了;
12.浮躁的人容易问:MAYA有钱途吗;--建议你去抢银行;
13.浮躁的人容易说:我要中文版!我英文不行!--不行?学呀!
14.浮躁的人容易问:MAYA和MAX哪个好;--告诉你吧,都好--只要你学就行;
15.浮躁的人分两种:a)只观望而不学的人;b)只学而不坚持的人;
16.把时髦的技术挂在嘴边,还不如把过时的技术记在心里;
17.MAYA不仅仅是3D软件;
18.学习MAYA最好的方法之一就是多练习;
19.在任何时刻都不要认为自己手中的书已经足够了;
21.看得懂的书,请仔细看;看不懂的书,请硬着头皮看;
22.别指望看第一遍书就能记住和掌握什么--请看第二遍、第三遍;
25.和别人一起讨论有意义的MAYA知识点,而不是争吵MAYA行不行或者MAX与LW哪个好;
27.不要因为MAYA和MAX看上去有一些相同,就认为它们的意义和作用完全一样;
28.请不要认为学过MAX再改学MAYA会有什么问题--你只不过又在学一门全新的软件而已;
29.有不懂的问题可以上CDV或HXSD,给留言WORC也可以给dxaMEAL;
30.学习MAYA的秘诀是:学习,学习,再学习;
31.请把书上的例子亲手到电脑上实践,即使配套光盘中有源文件;
32.把在书中看到的有意义的例子扩充;
33.请重视MAYA中的异常处理技术,并将其切实的运用到自己的工作中;
34.经常回顾自己以前做过的场景,并尝试重做,把自己学到的新知识运用进去;
35.不要漏掉书中任何一个练习--请全部做完并记录下思路;
36.MAYA建模和MAYA材质要同时学习和掌握;
37.既然决定了学MAYA,就请坚持学下去,;
38.就让各种3D平台去激烈的竞争吧,我们要以学习MAYA本身为主;
39.当你用MAYA到一半却发现自己用的方法很拙劣时,请不要马上停手;请尽快将余下的部分粗略的完成以保证这个设计的完整性,然后分析自己的错误并重新设计和工作(参见43);
40.别心急,用MAYA确实不容易;水平是在不断的实践中完善和发展的;
41.每学到一个MAYA难点的时候,尝试着对别人讲解这个知识点并让他理解--你能讲清楚才说明你真的理解了;
42.记录下在和别人交流时发现的自己忽视或不理解的知识点;
43.请不断的对自己做的场景提出更高的要求;
44.保存好你做过的所有的源文件--那是你最好的积累之一;
45.请不要做浮躁的人;
46.请热爱MAYA! |
| POSTED @ 2006/10/10 19:29 | Holiday? Right. It's holiday.
- Got trouble installing Linux in my new Sony notebook ! Too bad.
- Reading the novel "一公升的眼淚".
- It takes time to tidy up the bookshelf. So much to learn. |
| POSTED @ 2006/10/07 17:08 | 放假啦, 終於.
- Pick up my pencils again. Oh, I draw so bad O.o
- Saw DOA. Better than expected.
- What need to do ? What need to learn ? Fluid, Hair, Fur, Rigid body, Character rigging, Cloth, Shader writing, Point Cloud, storyboarding, Oil painting ... or making a short full-cg movie ? We spent so much time helping others to tell their story. How about ours ? |
| POSTED @ 2006/10/04 08:07 | This is another day, repeating the things happened yesterday.
- Rotoscoping should also be done with blocking. It's more fun to see the rough result before going to the perfection stage.
- Seith is so nice that he quickly updated the "poseLib" mel I suggested so that the pose library path could now be edited by user. Trying to make it work in production. http://www.seithcg.com
- Bought the book "The Art of Project Management" by Scott Berkun, and start reading. |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/30 07:07 | At office. Wits is almost finished. Almost.
- Studying application of generating mask from paint strokes in AE.
- http://www.highend3d.com/maya/downloads/character_rigs/
Besides mels, free character rigs are available at highend. Should find some time to study them.
- Keep rotoscoping ! "Roto Artist" is the post I should and would never apply. |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/27 07:50 | Quite a few people here, sleeping.
Rotoscoping, rotoscoping, rotoscoping ... |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/26 09:31 | 早點工作, 感覺不錯.
Rotoscoping, rotoscoping, rotoscoping ... |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/24 07:56 | 又是星期天, 在公司, 很靜.
- Doing rotoscoping these few days. It's again some stupid things that never required in full CG.
- Ideas :
o- How to use the min no. of vertices to form required shape ?
o- Ways to speed up the process : Work on 2k jpg rather than cin; Work on the keyed one, not original if the element is to be composited onto others. The shape can be a great different.
o- Improved the extendscript to expand selected vertices, not all.
o- Find the sharpest frame and start from there, before and after.
o- Autotrace of AE7 sometimes helps.
o- Test gFx Pro |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/21 10:45 | - learning some compositing stuff these days.
level, channel shifting, luma, different kind of blur and most of all, rotoscoping.
- http://www.vizyacky.com
An attractive course, except the fee. But it worths if it lead you to spend your time much worthy afterward.
- Bought 3D world magazine for the first time ($125!). Obviously the vision of these kind of magazine is much broader then those local or Chinese. |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/17 10:14 | Just back to office ... - Start doing some compositing tasks. Tuning shadows of arrows on the ground, say. Previewing in 2k is really frustrating. Must be some better ways to do ...
- Discover the mel "poseLib" by Seith occassionally (http://www.seithcg.com), which is almost exactly what I'm trying to implement. So, always try searching on the web. As there should be someone thought something out before you do, and even actualized it. |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/15 10:00 | Thing seems to be repeating itself, just like when someone starts writing his diary.
- Still working on the previous shot, adjusting timing of arrows, masking in AE, smoothing some distracting movements of the arrows.
- Thinking of a better setup of arrow which is easy to animate for most of the occasions. |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/13 23:25 | Still at office ... >.<
- Keep working on "Battle of Wits", which features Andy Lau.
- Working on a shot with flying arrows. Add shaking when the arrows hit on the shields.
- Writing a facial Panel in MEL which allows the creation of pose library and eases the setting of facials for animators.
- Solved a problem of the stupid Excel
- Reading stuff about cMuscle.(www.cometdigital.com) |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/12 21:05 | Recently I draw nothing, and the time seems running too fast, without doing things worth. I feel tired to update my site with something creative or interesting.
Thus I'm going to drop a few lines every day to write what we are as an animator doing or, as a record of myself. The Menfond Diary ... |
| POSTED @ 2006/09/03 23:28 | Excellent video tutorial for beginner of Houdini. Just watched all.

| POSTED @ 2006/08/27 18:55 | Hey !!! Just discover a fantastic drawing program, thanks to Brian.
http://www.portalgraphics.net/en/
The recording function let you see much more than just a still, especially useful for learning purpose. |
| POSTED @ 2006/08/17 10:26 | Keeeeeeeeeep working on some really exhaustive tasks at work. It's time to rethink about what we acutally love to do, what we are capable to do, when time won't wait.
Don't let yourself be afraid of doing something twice or even a billion times, just because of you don't have a better way of doing that. |
| POSTED @ 2006/08/06 18:39 | | Hoping to buy a tablet PC recently. Just don't want to forget that I really like drawing. Maybe spenting less time watching film then. Sometimes we really have to prioritize and sacrifice. |
| POSTED @ 2006/07/26 20:07 | | Bought a few books in the bookfair. Just like those bought last year, finding time to read ... |
| POSTED @ 2006/07/18 18:53 | Just come back from the talk by a pixar animatior, which is actually more artistic than technical.
Recently doing with some exhausive works, extremely repetitive but unautomatable. BUT I should be able to do much faster.
A great guy who did a close study of fire.

| POSTED @ 2006/07/09 14:09 | | Learning to use Firefox instead of IE. Just find that the links don't work. I think it's time also to modify the interface of the site. Planning on it ... |
| POSTED @ 2006/07/09 00:06 | Still in progress ...
 |
| POSTED @ 2006/07/08 09:26 | To be rainy in the next few days.
Very quiet. Nothing have happened recently. Not feeling good. |
| POSTED @ 2006/06/29 09:53 | | Fighting with the sculpey ... and some boring database stuff. Looking at some workflow enhancement tools, looking for some painting class to join, using dreamweaver again, finding ways to structuring my works in a better way. |
| POSTED @ 2006/06/11 10:06 | My first model using sculpey, in progress ...
